Professional Experience
Thornton Tomasetti (Summer 2007 & Summer 2008)
The summer after completing my B.S., I interned for Thornton Tomasetti in Chicago. Thornton Tomasetti is a high-end structural engineering design firm. While at Thornton Tomasetti I had the opportunity to work on a team for larger projects, as well as take the lead on some smaller projects. I enjoyed this experience greatly and returned the following summer. I experienced the entire building process, from conceptual design to construction administration. I learned the importance of good computer models and the benefit of clean hand calculations. I worked on many great projects, including a FedEx Hanger, the Detroit Airport, a Citi Bank branch, and Chicago Shedd Aquarium renovation.
Reyes Group (2006)
During the summer between my Junior and Senior year of undergraduate, I interned for Reyes Group in Markham, IL. Reyes Group is a construction company specializing in below grade concrete. This experience provided me the opportunity to interact daily with engineers as well as the construction team. I worked on several exciting projects, including the O'Hare Airport Modernization Program and the Chicago Block 37 construction.
